Billing and Collection Specialist

Premier global law firm has an excellent full-time employment opportunity for a Billing and Collection Specialist. Seeking a well-qualified candidate with a minimum of eight years prior legal billing and collection experience in a law firm environment.  The Billing and Collection Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and efficient preparation of invoices, assist with collections and analysis functions and handle additional accounting responsibilities as needed. Aderant Expert, Prebill Viewer and ebilling experience preferred.  This position is based in our West Los Angeles office. Firm offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process a high volume of complex bills
  • Process and submit client invoices electronically using Ebill Hub and various ebilling portals
  • Provide support for miscellaneous inquiries as needed for attorneys, secretaries, management and clients
  • Effectively communicate with both clients and attorney to resolve collection issues
  • Process and distribute ad hoc reports requested by clients, attorneys or manager
  • Provide client accruals as requested
  • Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required
  • Undertake special projects as directed
  • Process light accounts payable
  • Participate in appropriate mandatory training as necessary
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills & Competencies:

  • Concrete understanding of billing, collections and accounts payable concepts, practices and procedures
  • Ability to assess the collectability of outstanding balances from clients
  • Proactively and efficiently communicate accounts receivable information to office and firm management

Qualifications & Prior Experience:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience as a Legal Biller/Collector in a law firm environment
  • Aderant Expert software version 8.0.1 or higher experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required
  • Chrome River, Prebill Viewer and Ebilling Hub experience helpful
  • Flexibility for overtime is required
