Director of Attorney Recruiting & Development

Premier global firm seeks Director of Attorney Recruiting & Development to oversee strategic direction of Bay area offices. The Director will oversee the processes, programming and overall functioning of the recruiting, development and engagement channels with the goal of creating an irresistible workplace for the Firm’s attorneys. The Director of Attorney Recruiting & Development will work closely with the firms senior leadership team which includes various Directors, Chiefs and Practice Leaders.

Primary Functions:

Developing strategies to increase exposure to top candidates in key practice areas
Implementing recruiting initiatives, collaborating with diversity committee and maintaining strong relationships with law schools, alumni associates and placement centers
Leading and managing a local attorney and recruiting development team
Serve as the office’s primary contact with all outside organizations involved in the legal recruiting process
Oversee the summer program including social programs and evaluations
Provide strategic direction and implementation for attorney training and development initiatives
Oversee the development and execution of all in-house attorney training programs
Oversee the development and execution of all new attorney onboarding, orientation and training
Develop and implement a standard of excellence around attorney morale and retention initiatives
Liaise with and support local Diversity Committee and affinity groups. Facilitate local DEI initiatives, annual programming and events in collaboration with FW Diversity & Inclusion, local Diversity Committee and affinity groups
Monitor attorney utilization rates and collaborate with associates and partners to ensure appropriate workflow and professional development opportunities
Develop, implement and maintain a robust internal mentoring program
Drive and support a cohesive engagement strategy across the Firm and work to further develop a world-class, recognizable morale and retention “brand” both internally and externally
Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master/MBA or JD preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in similar setting
• Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, project management skills, analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of NALP and industry practices and standards
• Proven ability to effectively work with senior level professionals and Partners
• Ability to drive large scale projects with minimal supervision
